Fun, Family Friendly Fall activities in Estes Park

Just because school is back in session and the days have grown shorter, you shouldn’t assume you need to stay home. The weather is still nice enough for you to go hiking, biking, fishing and hunting. It’s a great time of year to check out the Estes Park restaurants you haven’t yet managed to get to yet. Plus there are plenty of great, fall activities in Estes Park that you’ll enjoy.

 

Estes Park Elk Fest17th Annual Elk Fest

October 4th and 5th is a weekend that has been set aside to celebrate the elk that live near Estes Park. The 17th Annual Elk Fest provides residents and visitors alike with the perfect opportunity to understand all the strange noises they’ll hear echoing through the air over the upcoming weeks. The event which takes place in Estes Park is a free event and the whole family is invited to attend.

Events scheduled to take place during the 17th Annual Elk Fest include;

  • A Giddy Up Kitty concert

  • An elk bugling contest

  • Wallowing Hole Beer Garden

  • A children’s tent

  • An elk viewing bus-there will be a $5 charge for the bus tour

  • Elk Management & Biology seminar

  • Native American Storytelling and music

  • Mountain Man Rendezvous

Several local vendors, artists, and Estes Park restaurants will be on hand and selling crafts, food, artwork, and other elk themed novelties.

 

Estes Park Fall Back Beer FestivalFall Back Beer Festival 

Held each year on the day we turn the clocks back, Fall-Back Beer Fest is not only a celebration of beer, but also the people who make it. Held in the new Estes Park Events Complex!

With over 100 different beers being poured by the brewers themselves from over 30 Colorado breweries, festival goers are sure to walk away having learned something new about their favorite beer from the people who created it.

Whoo’s Up There?

On November 8th, you should take your kids to the Estes Park Museum for the Whoo’s Up There Day. Admission for the day is $6 and if you’re acting as a chaperone, you can get in free. In addition to learning all about local owls, your child will also be able to paint a ceramic owl that they can keep.

 

Catch the Glow Celebration

You'll want to clear your calendar so that you have Novemeber 28 and 29 free. This is the weekend that the Catch the Glow Celebration takes place and you don't want to miss it.

The Catch the Glow Celebration has a nice, intimate feel that truly makes you feel like an important part of the community, while also helping you in a holiday frame of mind. Events that will be taking place during the course of the weekend include;

  • Animal interaction

  • Hayrides

  • Parades

  • Santa Clause

This family friendly event is free. When the fun has ended for the evening, you can visit your favorite Estes Park restaurants for hot chocolate and dessert.
