This year Oktoberfest and its celebration of beer doesn't end in October. On November 1, 2014 Estes Park dining favorites Poppy's Pizza and Mama Rose's are sponsoring the Fall Back Beer Fest. This event celebrates gaining an extra hour to party as we set our clocks back to standard time. It also coincides with the American Homebrewers Annual Learn to Homebrew Day. If that's not reson enough to get excited, November 1 could be the start of ski season if we're lucky.
The event is being held at the Estes Park Events Center & Pavilion. There are free shuttles from downtown so guests can sample all the brews they want without worrying about driving. Tickets are available on-line for a discount or at the gate. VIP guests get access to an official tasting mug, event tee shirt and a necklace. There are also reduced price tickets for non-drinkers.
In addition to sampling 100+ of the best brews around from 30 or more makers, there will be professional food pairings and discussions of the best glassware for your favorite pour. Those attending can also learn more about the art of brewing with informative seminars and live demonstrations. True beer lovers who want to get into brewing themselves can purchase supplies at the festival and enter giveaways for home brewing supplies.
Those interested in a more in-depth conversation with the brewers and who can't get enough of their favorites can arrange to extend their celebration to include dinner with the brewers at local Estes Park restaurants. Several area establishments will feature special menus paired with beer flights. This special dining experience will include access to the makers of the very brews you're enjoing with your dinner.
The event is family friendly as there are craft sodas available for those under 21 to try as well as special coffee roasts. Festival entertainment includes local favorite bands The Railsplitters and Atomic Drifters. Fall Back Fest is a can't miss affair if you plan to be in Estes Park November 1.
